Ribadu Meets US Officials to Boost Nigeria-US Security Ties

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser of Nigeria, conducted a three-day working visit to the United States from May 4 to May 6, 2023, to strengthen the strategic partnership between Nigeria and the U.S. During his visit, Ribadu met with U.S.

Vice President JD Vance, Senator Marco Rubio, and other senior officials, including U.S. Undersecretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker and Assistant Secretary of War Daniel Zimmerim.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral security cooperation, addressing terrorism, violent extremism, transnational organized crime, and cyber threats. Ribadu reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to its role in regional security and the importance of sustained international collaboration to tackle growing security threats across West Africa and the Sahel region.

The meetings concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen bilateral engagement and enhance defense and security cooperation through ongoing initiatives, including the Joint Work Group framework.
