Governor AbdulRazaq's Health Sector Reforms in Kwara State Show Clear Progress

Dr. Amina Ahm el Imam, representing the Kwara State Ministry of Health, responded to recent criticisms by highlighting Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's efforts to reform the healthcare sector in Kwara State. The administration inherited outdated and non-functional medical infrastructure, prompting a comprehensive assessment that revealed the need for modernization.

To address this, the state government procured a state-of-the-art 160-slice CT scan and a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, with plans to commission them soon. Additionally, the administration is enhancing diagnostic capabilities by distributing modern medical equipment, including abdominal ultrasound machines, across various healthcare facilities.

Recognizing the importance of human resources, the government has embarked on a significant recruitment drive, including 150 nurses and 41 resident doctors undergoing specialist training. The state has also initiated free medical and surgical outreach programs to provide specialized healthcare services to underserved communities.

These efforts align with the goal of achieving universal health coverage and transforming the healthcare system in Kwara State.
