FRSC Reports Alarming Increase in Road Crashes, Over 3,400 Deaths in Nigeria

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) revealed a concerning rise in road traffic crashes (RTCs) in Nigeria, resulting in over 3,400 deaths and 6,858 injuries from January to September 2025. FRSC Marshal Shehu Moham highlighted driver fatigue, overloading vehicles, and poor driver behavior as key factors contributing to the high number of fatalities.

The FRSC plans to launch an awareness campaign to sensitize drivers on road safety issues. The report also emphasized the involvement of commercial buses, trucks, and trailers in fatal crashes, urging for stricter enforcement of safety measures like seat belt usage.
