Rite Foods Targets 750 Tonnes Plastic Waste Recovery

Rite Foods has launched an initiative targeting the recovery of 750 tonnes of plastic waste as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability. This effort is in partnership with RecyclePoint and is designed to align with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles.

Ekuma Ez, Rite Foods' Head of Corporate Affairs, emphasized that this initiative reflects the company's evolution towards sustainable practices. The project aims to create a structured system for the recovery and recycling of post-consumer packaging, translating into tangible socio-economic benefits for Nigeria.

Daniel Oderinde from RecyclePoint highlighted the importance of proper waste segregation and the process of collecting and delivering waste. The initiative includes providing designed sack bags to encourage source segregation, with a transparent system for weighing and logging materials.

This effort is part of Rite Foods' broader strategy to build a recycling framework that incentivizes community behavior change and contributes significantly to developing a circular economy in Nigeria.
