Rival Groups Reject Desmond Elliot's Fourth Term Bid

Rival groups in Suruler Constituency have expressed their opposition to Desmond Elliot's bid for a fourth term as a lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly. The Coalition Stakeholders, represented by spokesman Olanrewaju Badmu, issued a statement on Wednesday, indicating that Elliot's performance over his three terms has not met expectations.

The coalition highlighted the need for new leadership that reflects the evolving aspirations of the people, particularly in addressing issues such as infrastructure decay, youth unemployment, and inadequate primary healthcare. They called for the support of local stakeholders for candidates who can bring fresh ideas and renewed energy to the constituency.

Despite the opposition to Elliot's ambitions, there have been reports of separate groups rallying in support of him, urging party leaders to adopt a consensus candidate. This situation signals a potentially competitive race for the Suruler Constituency seat as the 2027 general elections approach.
