Rivers Assembly Invites Commissioner Nominees for Screening

The Rivers State House of Assembly has acknowledged the receipt of a fresh list of nine commissioner nominees from Governor Siminalayi Fubara, inviting them for screening with the possibility of confirmation as members of the state executive council. This invitation was issued in a special government notice dated March 3, signed by the Clerk of the House, Emeka Amadi.

The nominees are required to present multiple copies of their credentials and tax records for scrutiny. The nominees include Datony Alasia, Tony Bellgam, Templ Nwofor, Peter Nwagor, Chariti Deemua, Tamuno William, Leku Kenneth Otony, Amachre Amairigha, and Edward Hart.

This development follows a recent political realignment in the state legislature after the Supreme Court affirmed Martin Amaewhul as the authentic Speaker of the House. The assembly's invitation signals a gradual return to normal governance after tensions arose during the previous administration of Governor Nyesom Wike, which included disputes that stalled executive activities.
