Rivers Assembly Summons Heir Energy Over Community Petition

The Rivers State House of Assembly has summoned the management of Heir Energy Limited to appear before lawmakers on July 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM. This decision follows the company's repeated failure to honor previous invitations related to a petition filed by Omuohia Community in Igwuruta Town, Ikwerr Local Government Area.

The summons was formalized in a letter dated July 7, 2026, signed by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Emeka Amadi.

The House expressed strong displeasure over Heir Energy Limited's non-compliance and warned that failure to appear could lead to the invocation of the Assembly's constitutional powers under Section 129 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, amended). The Assembly's Committee on Public Complaints had previously addressed the petition, emphasizing the need for the company to treat the matter with utmost priority.
