Rivers State Denies Blocking Pro-Tinubu Rally, Cites Stadium Reconstruction

The River State Governor, Nyesom Wike, denied accusations of blocking a pro-Tinubu rally organized by the Renew Hope Agenda Rivers State at Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt. The state government clarified that the stadium was under reconstruction and deemed unsafe for public use.

The Ministry of Information and Communications refuted claims of denial, stating that the stadium was inaccessible due to ongoing renovations. The Commission of Sports and Commission of Justice also confirmed no formal request was received for the stadium's use.

Michael Ebiteny, a site engineer, highlighted safety concerns, including heavy human traffic and damaged underground pipes, preventing the facility's immediate use. Despite political affiliations, the government emphasized prioritizing safety and property protection during renovations.
