Rivers State Government Denies Blocking Access to Stadium for Political Rally

The Rivers State Government refuted claims that it denied access to Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt for a political rally led by a Pro-Tinubu group. The government clarified that the stadium is currently undergoing major reconstruction, making it unsafe for public use.

The Ministry of Information and Communication's Permanent Secretary, Sirawoo, labeled the allegations made by Wike as false and misleading. The state government emphasized that the stadium's facilities are unfit for use due to ongoing renovations, with the contractor advising against hosting events until the work is completed, regardless of political affiliations.
