Rivers Governor Fubara Calls for Prayers Post-Reinstatement Amid Political Crisis

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara called for prayers during his first Sunday service after the reinstatement following the state of emergency. The Governor, accompanied by his wife Valerie, attended the service at Saint Paul Anglican Church in Opobo Local Government Area.

The reinstatement came after President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule imposed on Rivers State on September 17, 2025. The emergency rule was initially put in place on March 18, 2025, due to a political impasse and crisis in the state.

Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of peace and unity during the service, coinciding with the International Day of Peace. The crisis had led to a division in the State Assembly, involving clashes between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
