Rivers Man Arrested for Defiling 16-Year-Old Girl

Mr. Goodnew was arrested by the Rivers State Police Command's Special Area Rumudomaya for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl on May 4, 2026, along Apu Road in Rukpokwu, Obio Akpor Local Government Area. The incident was reported by Chidi Obulor, a family friend of the victim's parents, after the suspect allegedly tricked the girl into a secluded area.

Following a formal complaint, police conducted an investigation and arrested the suspect. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Bless Agab, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing. Human rights group Central Basic Rights Protection Account Campaign criticized any attempts to settle the matter, emphasizing that the crime is against the state and not just the victim.

Princ Wiro, the national coordinator, urged the police to ensure a thorough investigation and that the suspect faces justice.
