Rivers State Governor Fubara Celebrates Democracy Day

On June 12, 2023, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State reaffirmed democracy as Nigeria's most effective system during the celebration of Democracy Day. He recognized the historical significance of June 12, 1993, marking 33 years since the elections that represented a pivotal moment in Nigeria's democratic journey.

Fubara paid tribute to the sacrifices of democracy heroes, particularly MKO Abiola and his wife, Kudirat Abiola, whose courage contributed to Nigeria's democratic freedom. He commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to a renewal agenda aimed at economic revitalization, security strengthening, and deepening democratic institutions.

Fubara expressed Rivers State's readiness to partner with the federal government to advance policies that improve citizens' lives, infrastructure development, job creation, and security. He urged all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, ethnic background, or religious belief, to renew their commitment to democratic ideals and work towards national development through peace and dialogue.
