FG Commits to Strengthening Democracy Ahead of June 12

On June 12, 2026, Nigeria will celebrate its 27th Democracy Day, and the Federal Government, through Minister of Information Mohammed Idris, has pledged to strengthen democracy and promote national unity. This commitment was articulated following a special Juma prayer service held as part of the Democracy Day activities.

Idris emphasized the need for Nigerians to seek divine guidance and reflect on their roles in sustaining peace, stability, and development. He highlighted the sacrifices made by heroes like Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola in restoring democratic rule.

The minister reiterated the government's dedication under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deepen democracy and foster national cohesion. He called on citizens to embrace unity and work together for the country's progress, rejecting divisiveness and promoting dialogue.
