Rivers State Governor Orders Investigation into Collapse

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara visited the site of a building collapse to assess the damage and gather firsthand information about the tragic incident. He declared that the site would remain sealed until the state government concludes its investigation to determine the root cause of the collapse.

Preliminary findings indicated that the developers had repeatedly refused to allow state authorities to inspect the project, failing to comply with established building regulations. Governor Fubara emphasized that the matter transcended jurisdictional issues, noting the loss of lives and the impact on affected families.

He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed sympathy for the injured. The governor insisted that incidents like this must be prevented by ensuring compliance with modern engineering standards and building regulations.

He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stating that no activities would be permitted at the site until the investigation is complete. Governor Fubara was accompanied by Amairigha Hart, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties, and Dabit Sokari Georg.
