Nigerian Clubs Set for CAF Competitions Draw on August 6

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will announce the first-round opponents for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup on August 6. Nigeria will be represented by Enugu Rangers, the Nigeria Premier Football League champions, and Rivers United, the runners-up, in the CAF Champions League.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, third-placed 3SC and President Federation Cup winners El-Kanemi Warriors will compete. CAF has stated that the winners of the CAF Champions League will receive a prize of $6 million, while the champions of the CAF Confederation Cup will earn $4 million.

Additionally, clubs eliminated in the preliminary rounds will each receive a solidarity payment of $100,000. CAF emphasized its commitment to supporting participating teams and enhancing inter-club competitions.

The preliminary rounds have historically featured memorable contests, showcasing both established clubs and emerging teams on the African football stage. Currently, Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa are the reigning champions of the CAF Champions League, and USM Alger from Algeria hold the CAF Confederation Cup title.
