Rivers West Senator Ipalibo Banigo Joins APC

On Tuesday, during a plenary session in the Senate, Ipalibo Banigo announced her defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Banigo's letter, where she cited internal divisions and leadership disputes within the PDP as her reasons for leaving.

Banigo stated that she held extensive consultations with her constituents and stakeholders before making the decision, expressing confidence that the APC would provide a stable platform to advance her legislative development agenda. She looks forward to working with political mentors such as Nyesom Wike and Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, in support of President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Banigo expressed her support for Tinubu's economic policies and pledged to assist Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, in consolidating support for the President. Her defection is seen as a significant boost for the APC in the Senate, expected to strengthen support for Tinubu's administration in Rivers State.
