Riyad Mahrez Retires from International Football with Algeria

Riyad Mahrez has confirmed his retirement from international duty with the Algeria National Football Team after their disappointing exit from the FIFA World Cup, where they lost 2-0 to Switzerland. The match saw goals from Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye, sending the Swiss team into the Round of 16, where they will face either Colombia or Ghana.

Mahrez, who served as the captain of the Algerian team, concluded his international career with 119 caps and 40 goals, making him the second-highest scorer in the country's history. He expressed disappointment over the team's performance, stating that they let two goals slip away and that it was hard to accept the loss in what was his last game for Algeria.

Murat Yakin, the coach of Switzerland, praised his team's determination and defensive solidity during the match.
