Ruling House Urges Governor to Resume Awujale Selection

The ruling house in Ijebuland, represented by Otunba Abdul Lateef Adebayo Owoyemi, has appealed to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to lift the suspension on the selection process for the 60th Awujale, which was halted in January. The governor's decision to suspend the process followed petitions from security agencies regarding potential threats to public order.

This marks the second time the governor has intervened in the selection process since the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona, who reigned for 65 years. The ruling house has submitted a list of 94 candidates for consideration, and Owoyemi criticized the governor's actions as unprecedented and unjustified, alleging that the suspension was influenced by unproven claims of bribery.

He emphasized the importance of resuming the selection process to ensure peace and progress in Ijebuland and called on President Bola Tinubu to assist in resolving the matter.
