Leaders Meet in Paris to Strengthen Ukraine's Defense

Russia has intensified its missile assaults on Ukraine, leading to a high-level meeting in Paris involving 25 heads of government, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The summit aims to address the urgent need for enhanced air defense systems in Ukraine, as Russian ballistic missiles and long-range drones threaten military infrastructure and civilian areas.

Discussions will focus on supplying U.S.-made Patriot missile interceptors and expanding deliveries of Franco-Italian SAMP/T air defense systems. Zelenskyi has repeatedly urged allies to expedite the delivery of promised weaponry, emphasizing that delays in missile defense systems could cost civilian lives.

The meeting will also consider additional economic measures to increase pressure on Moscow and discuss tougher sanctions targeting Russia's oil tanker fleet. The summit is expected to unveil new bilateral defense initiatives, including expanded joint weapon production and military exercises, as Ukraine's defense planners seek a steady flow of air defense systems to protect cities and energy infrastructure.
