Salawa Abeni Honors Taiwo Hassan Ogogo at Fidau Prayer

Veteran fuji singer Salawa Abeni honored the late actor Taiwo Hassan Ogogo at his eight-day Fidau prayer held on August 31, 2026. This Islamic prayer session was one of the first major public gatherings following Ogogo's death after a battle with cancer.

Salawa Abeni, invited to speak at the ceremony, recounted the only encounter she had with Ogogo during the filming of "Odun Mejo," a notable production by Taiwo Akinwande, known as Yetunde Wunmi. Despite their brief acquaintance, Abeni's words during the Fidau were warm and sincere.

She prayed for Ogogo's family, reflecting on the impact of their meeting. The event drew attention on social media, with users referencing Abeni's iconic song "Gentle Lady." Additionally, Abeni addressed ongoing claims regarding her marital status with Kollington Ayinla, clarifying that she did not end their relationship, which lasted from the mid-1980s until 1994.
