SDP Presidential Candidate Blames Infrastructure Crisis on Public Asset Sales

Prince Adewole Adebayo, a 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), attributed Nigeria's current infrastructure crisis to the sale of public assets that began in 1999. Adebayo criticized successive governments for privatizing critical enterprises like NEPA, NITEL, NICON, and Nigerian Hotels Limited, leading to massive infrastructure challenges, unemployment, and lack of skills development.

He particularly blamed the Olusegun Obasanjo administration for the privatization drive, emphasizing the negative ripple effects on the economy. Adebayo highlighted the need for government intervention to address the infrastructure deficit and create employment opportunities.
