NUJ FCT Chairman Urges Ethical Reporting for Eid

Grace Ike, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, called on journalists across the nation to embrace the spirit of Eid el-Kabir by championing ethical reporting and promoting national unity. In her goodwill message, she emphasized the core virtues of the season, including sacrifice and obedience to truth, which should reflect in the daily conduct of journalists.

Ike urged media practitioners to resist the temptation of sensationalism and fake news that could create division. She reaffirmed that a free press is a cornerstone of democracy and insisted that journalists must remain courageous in the face of intimidation while holding power accountable.

Additionally, she highlighted the unique responsibility of journalists to bridge ethnic and religious divides, advocating for mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Ike concluded by wishing the Muslim community and the media profession peace and blessings during the Eid celebrations and urged journalists to extend kindness in the spirit of the season.
