Over 3,000 Arrive in Osun via Free Train for Festival

The Osun State Government reported that over 3,000 holidaymakers utilized a free train service to arrive in Osun for the Eid-el-Kabir festival. This initiative, which has been in place for three years, was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, who received the holidaymakers at Osogbo train station.

The service, which began on a late Tuesday, aims to ease the financial burden of high road transport costs. Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration has committed to sustaining this initiative despite financial challenges.

Additionally, two bridges were temporarily opened in Osogbo to facilitate intra-city movement during the festival. The free train service, which has been operational since 2011, is designed to help citizens return home for celebrations, with many passengers disembarking at various stops in Ogun and Oyo states.

The initiative has been praised for its role in alleviating travel costs for residents.
