Tinubu Approves 50% Train Fare Discount for Eid Travel

President Bola Tinubu has approved a 50% reduction in train fares for passengers using the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) services during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. This fare discount will be effective from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and will remain valid until Monday, June 1, 2026.

The initiative is designed to ease transportation costs for Nigerians traveling to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with their families, especially amid rising transport expenses. The temporary fare reduction is expected to encourage citizens to utilize rail transport during the festive season, thereby improving mobility across major routes nationwide.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation operates several passenger train services connecting major cities and states across Nigeria, including routes from Abuja to Kaduna, Lagos to Ibadan, and Warri to Itakpe.
