Sam Amadi Condemns Cleric's Bounty on Pastor Over Blasphemy

Sam Amadi, the former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), expressed outrage over an Islamic cleric who publicly placed a N1 million bounty on a pastor's head, accusing him of blasphemy. The cleric's call for violence was captured in a viral video, which has raised concerns about escalating religious tensions, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

Amadi urged the Nigerian government to arrest the cleric, highlighting that instigating violence contradicts the principles of a constitutional democracy. He stated that while the pastor may have spoken against a religious figure, it does not justify threats to his life.

Amadi emphasized that blasphemy should not be considered a crime in Nigeria, and that the government has a duty to protect individuals accused of such acts to prevent further violence and uphold the rule of law.
