Sanwo-Olu Names Hamzat, Sonayon-James as APC Candidates

On Thursday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced Obafemi Hamzat as the deputy governorship candidate and Damilola Sonayon-James as the governorship candidate for the APC in the upcoming elections. Sanwo-Olu described the duo as a team equipped to sustain and advance the state's development.

He emphasized that their selection reflects the administration's commitment to inclusive leadership and the ability to pass the baton to proven hands. Sanwo-Olu praised Hamzat for his loyalty and dedication as a public servant, while he commended Sonayon-James for her strong track record in grassroots development and youth empowerment.

The governor called on APC members, stakeholders, and residents to rally behind the ticket and support their mission to build a greater Lagos. Hamzat emerged as the party's candidate during the primary elections held at the APC secretariat in Ogba on May 21, where he received 657,917 votes from 657,974 accredited votes cast.
