Sanwo-Olu Launches Lagos State Sports Trust Fund Board

On Wednesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the board of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund at the Lagos House Marina. The board is chaired by Enitan Oshodi, the current president of the International Table Tennis Federation, and includes members such as Olaposi Agunbiad, Olabod Agoro, and others.

The primary objective of the board is to deploy resources for the growth and development of grassroots and school sports across various divisions in Lagos State. Sanwo-Olu urged the board members to leverage their professional backgrounds to establish a robust sports institution in Lagos.

He highlighted the importance of private sector support in funding sports initiatives, noting that the government alone cannot meet all financial needs. The governor mentioned that Lagos State has invested significantly in sports, with over 20 million people requiring facilities to support athletes.

The board aims to create pathways for fundraising and enhance sports infrastructure in the state.
