Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Consumer Protection

On March 15, 2023, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration's commitment to strengthening the legal framework for consumer protection during the World Consumer Rights Day celebration. He highlighted the critical role of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) in ensuring safe and reliable products in Nigeria's largest consumer market.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that consumer protection is essential for public safety, economic stability, and social justice. He urged businesses to prioritize safety and transparency, noting that consumer confidence contributes to a healthier and more prosperous society.

Folashad Ambros, representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, and Industry, echoed the need for strong partnerships and innovative solutions to address challenges in the digital marketplace. Afolabi Solebo, LASCOPA's General Manager, called for continued reinforcement of public enlightenment initiatives to keep consumer rights central to economic development in Lagos State.
