Sanwo-Olu Advocates for Women's Rights and Empowerment

During the 2026 International Women's Day celebration in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the state's commitment to protecting women's rights and promoting economic empowerment. The event, themed "Right, Justice, Action for Women and Girls" under the "Givetogain" campaign, was organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Sanwo-Olu stressed the necessity of transitioning from rhetoric to measurable outcomes, noting that women's rights are enshrined in the state constitution. He highlighted the importance of gender inclusivity in the state's development agenda and outlined interventions from the Ministry of Women Affairs, including expanding skill acquisition programs and entrepreneurship support.

Sanwo-Olu urged public officials and private sector stakeholders to strengthen systems that promote inclusivity. Bolaji Dada, who described the event as reinforcing government priorities, noted that poverty remains a significant threat to women's autonomy.

The "Givetogain" campaign aims to share responsibility among government, private sector, and society to expand opportunities for women and girls.
