SAPZ Kano Launches Campaign to Boost Agriculture

The Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) program in Kano State has initiated an awareness campaign across eight additional local government areas, including Dawakin Kudu, Kumbotso, Tofa, Gwarzo, Madobi, Shanono, Minjibir, and Gabasawa. This campaign aims to educate smallholder farmers, agro-processors, traders, women, and youth about new market opportunities.

Hajiya Rabi Mustafa Sadiq, a representative of SAPZ Kano, stated that the program is a collaboration involving the federal government, the African Development Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Islamic Development Bank, and private investors. The initiative is designed to attract private sector investment, enhance agricultural productivity, improve food security, create jobs, and reduce rural poverty.

The program is expected to directly benefit at least 1.5 million households nationwide, with women comprising 50% of the beneficiaries and youth aged 18-29 making up 40%. Additionally, SAPZ Kano has successfully profiled 15,463 smallholder farmers across the targeted areas.
