Kano Launches Agricultural Hub to Empower Women Farmers

Kano State has inaugurated an agricultural hub to enhance female inclusion in farming, led by Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, the project coordinator of the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP). The initiative aims to expand women's participation in agriculture and strengthen their economic empowerment across the state.

The center will serve as a strategic platform to improve women's contributions to food production, enhance household livelihoods, and promote sustainable agricultural development. KSADP has made progress in improving food security and nutrition in various communities, particularly in rural areas, through partnerships with the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA).

The project includes specialized training for women in food processing and preparation, creating economic opportunities. Additionally, KSADP has established three agricultural mechanization service centers in Danbatta, Gaya, and Kadawa, which have attracted federal government recognition as a model for replication nationwide.

The state also established its first veterinary diagnostic research center at Gwale Veterinary Hospital, collaborating with institutions like Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University Kano.
