Nigeria's Information Minister Strengthens Ties with Saudi Arabia

On September 24, 2026, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia during a reception in Abuja marking the Kingdom's 96th National Day. Idris emphasized that the relationship is evolving beyond traditional ties, with increased cooperation in agriculture, energy, investment, aviation, financial technology, and trade.

He noted the historical connections between the two nations, highlighting the travel of Nigerians to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage, education, and business. Idris mentioned that Nigeria is drawing lessons from Saudi Arabia's development as it implements economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He outlined the government's investments in infrastructure and reforms aimed at attracting long-term investments. The Minister welcomed Saudi investors and expressed confidence in the continued growth of bilateral ties through trade and partnerships.
