Saudi Arabia Reduces Nigeria's 2026 Hajj Slot Due to Underutilization

Saudi Arabia has reduced Nigeria's 2026 Hajj slot to 66,910 from the initial 95,000 due to underutilization of slots in previous years. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) revealed this decision, urging states to address critical issues like hajj costs.

Efforts are underway to negotiate reduced costs, including cargo handling charges. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has pledged to consider reducing charges for pilgrims.

Key officials like Anofiu Elegushi and Abdullahi Saleh Usman emphasized the need for unity in managing Nigeria's hajj operations.
