Saudi Arabia Introduces New Work Visa Limits for Businesses

Saudi Arabia has introduced new regulations regarding work visas for foreign workers, establishing a clear distinction between newly established businesses and more established employers. Under the new framework, businesses operating for less than two years can obtain a maximum of five work visas, whereas companies that have been operational for over two years can secure up to 50 visas.

This change is significant for foreign workers, particularly those relying on smaller or newly established companies for sponsorship. Companies participating in the Establishing Programme start with a quota of two work visas, which can increase as they achieve a higher Nitaqat classification.

The revised system aims to link access to foreign labor with the development and classification of Saudi businesses. Additionally, the government has tightened rules for foreign workers, including the requirement for Premium Residency holders to obtain separate work permits.

These changes reflect a broader effort to regulate foreign employment in Saudi Arabia.
