Chelsea Eyes Emiliano Martínez for Goalkeeper Position

Chelsea has initiated contact with Emiliano Martínez’s representatives as they explore the possibility of acquiring the Aston Villa goalkeeper. The 33-year-old Argentina international may be available for transfer following Aston Villa's recent signing of Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma for approximately £30 million.

Chelsea's interest in Martínez is partly due to concerns regarding Robert Sánchez's performances, particularly after he made several mistakes during Chelsea's opening Premier League match against Fulham, which they won 3-2 at Craven Cottage. Martínez has also drawn interest from Juventus this summer, but a potential move to the Italian club collapsed due to worries over a finger injury, leading Juventus to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario on loan instead.

Additionally, a transfer to Chelsea could facilitate further dealings between the two clubs, which have maintained a close relationship in recent transfer windows, including Chelsea's signing of Morgan Rogers for a club-record £117 million and the loan of Alejandro Garnacho to Villa.
