Scammers Impersonate PiggyVest on WhatsApp, Lure Nigerians With Fake Investment Scheme

Scammers are impersonating PiggyVest on WhatsApp, enticing Nigerians with a fake investment scheme promising to double their money within 60 minutes. The fraudulent WhatsApp group, with over 540 members, claims to be affiliated with PiggyVest, a popular Nigerian savings and investment platform.

PiggyVest has confirmed that they do not operate any investment groups on WhatsApp and never promise unrealistic returns. The scammers, using the false identity of PiggyVest, ask for payments to a personal FCMB account under the name Ajakaye Rebecca.

This is not the first time scammers have used trusted brand names to deceive Nigerians, with previous schemes like BOLDGAINS and Helping Hands. Impersonating a company to defraud people is a serious crime under Nigerian law, with penalties including lengthy prison terms and fines.
