EU Announces Schengen Visa Fee Exemptions for Key Groups

The European Union has outlined four categories of individuals who are fully exempt from the standard Schengen visa fee of EUR 90, as per Article 16 of its Visa Code. The first category includes children under six years of age, exempt regardless of travel purpose.

The second category encompasses school pupils, students, postgraduate students, and accompanying teachers traveling for educational purposes. The third category is for researchers attending scientific research or conferences.

The fourth category applies to representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or younger participating in seminars, conferences, or educational events organized by non-profits. Additionally, there are discretionary waivers for children aged six to 18, holders of diplomatic and service passports, and participants under 25 attending relevant events.

Fees are non-refundable once paid, except under specific outlined circumstances.
