FCTA Workers Begin Indefinite Strike, Schools and Offices Shut in Abuja

Workers under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in Abuja have initiated an indefinite strike due to unaddressed welfare concerns. The strike has resulted in the shutdown of schools and offices, impacting daily operations.

The Joint Union Action Congress (JUAC) is leading the strike, with workers demanding improved working conditions and the resolution of issues such as pension remittances, salary discrepancies, and lack of training programs. The strike has disrupted services provided by agencies like the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGI) and has affected the morale and productivity of workers.

Labor leader Rifkatu Iortyer highlighted various grievances, including unpaid wages, promotions, and poor working conditions. The situation remains tense as workers continue to stay home in compliance with the industrial action notice.
