FCT Workers' Strike Enters Day 6 Over Unpaid Wages and Demands

The ongoing strike in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has entered its sixth day, with workers from various government agencies, including the FCTA and FCDA, downing tools indefinitely due to non-payment of wages for five months and other demands. The strike has led to the closure of schools, impacting primary and secondary education across six area councils in the FCT.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) have joined the strike in solidarity. The strike has caused disruptions in various government services and has prompted concerns from parents and stakeholders about the prolonged shutdown.

Legal proceedings have been initiated, with a case brought against the strike by the FCT administration in the Nation Industrial Court. The court is set to rule on the matter following arguments presented by both parties.
