Scramble for Top Prizes Begins at 6th Efunkoya Table Tennis

Young table tennis players from 12 states and 28 clubs in Nigeria kicked off the 6th Efunkoya Table Tennis Tournament after a two-day coaching clinic. The event, held at Molade Hall in Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, aims to develop fundamental skills in participants.

The tournament will see over 150 players aged 15 and under competing for educational scholarships and recognition for their performance. Tournament referee John Peters stressed the importance of age verification to ensure fair play and prevent age falsification.

He emphasized the need for coaches to adhere to the rules and not encourage dishonest practices that could hinder the development of young athletes. The tournament, which honors the late Adegboyega Efunkoya, aims to discover and nurture talented and educated players.

The winners will be announced on Saturday, August 16, with scholarships awarded to outstanding performers.
