Adebayo Claims Political Leaders Benefit from Banditry

Adewale Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), made significant claims regarding the ongoing issue of banditry in Nigeria during an interview. He alleged that Nigerian political leaders benefit from the persistence of banditry and insecurity, arguing that they use these challenges to secure electoral victories.

Adebayo stated that the current government, led by President Bola Tinubu, has the capacity to eliminate banditry but lacks the political will to do so. He asserted that if the government truly wanted to end banditry, it could achieve immediate results.

Adebayo criticized the government's approach, suggesting that officials complicate the issue and rely on bandit leaders to help them win elections, thus profiting from the situation. He emphasized that President Tinubu has expressed a desire to eliminate banditry, stating that he does not want to see bandits in Nigeria by Christmas this year.
