Frank Onyeka Credits Mother for Football Inspiration

Frank Onyeka, a 28-year-old midfielder currently on loan at Coventry City from Brentford, shared how his mother has been a significant inspiration in his football career. Onyeka began his journey in football as a teenager when he joined Danish side FC Midtjylland.

He acknowledged the sacrifices his mother made, particularly during challenging times when his father lost his job, and she had to support the family through her women's clothing business. Initially, she was upset about him playing football and encouraged him to focus on his studies.

However, she eventually supported his passion, even buying him his first pair of football boots. Onyeka expressed pride in his journey and his mother's happiness in seeing him represent Nigeria at the highest level, including participation in two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments where he won bronze and silver medals.
