Nigeria Police Enhances School Security in Anambra State

The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Police Force has intensified security measures around schools and key locations as students return for the new academic session. This deployment is part of the Inspector-General of Police’s Safe School Initiative and is overseen by Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo.

Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga announced the initiative on Thursday, detailing that officers from the police and other security agencies have been assigned to designated schools and strategic areas. The primary goals of this exercise include enhancing security around educational institutions, educating students on personal safety, and fostering a safe learning environment.

Ikenga emphasized the importance of collaboration among the Police, school authorities, teachers, parents, guardians, and local communities to detect and respond to security threats effectively. Personnel involved are instructed to maintain a visible presence, assist students during peak times, and address security concerns promptly.
