Northern Governors Praise Tinubu for Security Improvements

The Northern Governors Forum, chaired by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, commended President Bola Tinubu for the improvements in security across northern Nigeria, despite ongoing insecurity in parts of the country. The meeting, held in Abuja, included 19 northern state governors who acknowledged the intertwined issues of insecurity, illiteracy, poverty, and unemployment.

The forum stressed the necessity for substantial investments in education and human capital development to create economic opportunities and achieve lasting peace. They highlighted the importance of proactive measures to prevent recurring farmer-herder clashes, especially with the onset of the rainy season.

The governors called for the establishment of state police to effectively address the complex security challenges in the region, emphasizing the need for localized intelligence-driven responses. They expressed their commitment to supporting President Tinubu's leadership and initiatives aimed at reforming security frameworks in Nigeria, while also addressing the root causes of insecurity.
