Senate Army Committee Mourns Retired Maj.-Gen. Abubakar

The Senate Army Committee mourned the murder of Retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, who was a former Director of Defence Information and hailed from Batsari Local Government Area in Katsina State.

The committee, led by Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar Adua, released a statement expressing deep sorrow over Abubakar's death, which occurred on May 30, 2026, when he was abducted alongside his wife along the Katsina-Matazu road.

The committee acknowledged Abubakar's significant contributions to Nigeria's security throughout his career and extended condolences to his family, the Nigerian Army, and the people of Batsari LGA and Katsina State. They prayed for Allah to grant him Aljannah Firdau and provide his family with the fortitude to bear the loss.

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies to strengthen measures that protect lives and property, urging Nigerians to remain united and patient in efforts to restore peace.
