Nigerian Senate Confirms Amupitan as INEC Chairman, Focus on Election Independence

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Amupitan as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following President Bola Tinubu's nomination. During the screening process, Amupitan pledged to safeguard the independence of INEC and proposed using drones to monitor elections and ensure timely delivery of electoral materials.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu emphasized the need for secure transportation of election materials across the country. Amupitan highlighted the challenges of insecurity and proposed technological solutions to enhance election monitoring and logistics.

The confirmation aims to strengthen INEC's credibility and efficiency in conducting free and fair elections in Nigeria.
