Oyewumi Defects from PDP to Accord Party in Osun State

On Monday, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Oyewumi announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, as stated in a release from Osogbo. Oyewumi, who represents Osun West, is the last senator from the PDP in Osun State to exit the party, following earlier defections by senators Olubiyi Fadeyi and Franci Fadahunsi to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This shift comes amid a wave of defections in Osun State, where the PDP has lost three members of the House of Representatives. Governor Ademola Adeleke also defected from the PDP to the Accord Party in December 2025.

Oyewumi's decision reflects his commitment to represent policies aimed at promoting development in Osun State. He has formally registered as a member of the Accord Party in Ward 9, Irewole Local Government Area, with the party's state chairman, Victor Akande, acknowledging his decision.
