Nigerian Senate Grills AGF Over N28 Trillion Revenue and Unpaid Contracts

The Nigerian Senate engaged in a heated session with the Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. Shamsudeen Ogunjimi, over critical financial matters. Senators, led by Senator Sani Musa, expressed concerns about the absence of capital allocations, unpaid contracts, and the failure to explain the reported N28 trillion revenue.

The Senate criticized the AGF for frustrating budget implementation and demanded satisfactory explanations. Issues raised included the centralized payment system's flaws, contractor payment delays, and the need for a more effective budgeting model.

The AGF defended his office, attributing the crisis to indiscriminate contract awards without secured funds. Senators, including Danjuma Goje and Muntari Danduts, pressed for clarity on the revenue discrepancies and budget allocations.
