Nigerian Senate and House Committees Praise Tinubu for Prioritizing Sports Funding

The Nigerian Senate and House Committees on Sports have praised Bola Tinubu for prioritizing sports and providing unprecedented support to the National Sports Commission (NSC). They commended the NSC's leadership for defending their 2026 budget before the committees in Abuja.

The Senate Sports Committee Chairman, Abdul Ningi, highlighted the importance of funding sports ahead of the Commonwealth Games, emphasizing the need to avoid bureaucratic delays. The House Committee Sports Chairman, Kabiru Ahmadu, acknowledged Tinubu's commitment to sports by approving direct budget allocations for sports.

NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, emphasized the significance of timely fund releases to support Nigerian athletes, citing the country's success in winning 375 medals across various sports in 2025. Both the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly unanimously approved the NSC's 2026 budget to sustain progress in the sports sector.
