Nigerian Senate Probes Rising Train Derailments Amid Infrastructure Concerns

The Nigerian Senate has initiated a probe into the increasing cases of train derailments, particularly focusing on the recent incident in Warri-Itakpe rail line in Delta State. Led by Senator Adam Oshiomhole, the ad hoc committee aims to evaluate the quality of rail infrastructure and materials used in projects funded by loans from China Railway Development.

The committee is expected to submit its report within six weeks. Senator Ed Dafinone raised concerns about the derailment, emphasizing the need to address the recurring incidents to restore public confidence in Nigeria's railway system.
